Dr. Jhumki Rath started formal training in Hindustani Classical Music at the age of 7 (seven) under Guru Baldev Singh. She received further training in Hindustani & Odissi Vocal music from Guru Sri Gopal Chandra Panda, the then Head of Department of Odissi Department of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Bhubaneswar. She completed Masters in Music from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Pune and stood 2nd at All India Level. She also received scholarship from Department of Human Resources Development, Government of India for learning Odissi Music under Guru Sri Gopal Chandra Panda.She is an audition artiste in Light Vocal in All India Radio, Cuttack since 1986 and also an audition artiste in Hindustani Vocal in All India Radio, Cuttack since 1989.

She has been regularly performing in Doordarshan since 1992 and in musical programmes of ETV, OTV, MBC, Parthana, Nakhyatra, Kanak TV and other odia TV channels. She has performed in stage programmes at all musical forums of Odisha, including in Classical Music at Bhubaneswar Music Circle and under ‘Horizon’ programme of ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations). She has sung in a number of Audio & Video Albums and has four solo devotional albums and one modern album to her credit. She has also accompanied a number of major Odissi dancers during their dance recitals at various parts of the country. Special programmes featuring her have been broadcast in Door Darshan, OTV, Kanak TV etc.
